Starting June 19, there will be volunteer supporters in blue uniforms around Shinjuku and Ueno stations in Tokyo, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Those people are from a team named “Omotenashi Tokyo”, a group of people organized by Tokyo Metropolitan Government to help foreign tourists in the city. (“Omotenashi” is a Japanese word similar to “hospitality”.)
The “Omotenashi Tokyo” supporters will be walking around in pairs to help foreign tourists in two of the most congested places in Tokyo: Shinjuku and Ueno. They will be providing information of the areas and helping them find ways to their destinations in multi-languages. One of the pair will be able to communicate in English, while the other in English, Chinese, Korean or other languages.
When you need any guide and information in Shinjuku and Ueno, look for them in the unique uniform!
