3 Summer Events That Otakus Don’t Want to Miss!

Summer in Tokyo is really hot and humid. In spite of that, a mass of people (mostly otakus) gather from all parts of Japan to attend the popular events: Comic Market 88, Wonder Festival, and Chara Hobby 2015 C3xHobby. For anyone interested in Japanese otaku culture, we think attending those events will be a fun and unique experience. Just be aware that there will be a lot of queuing, heat, and people!

Comic Market 88

Known as Comiket, Comic Market is the most well known otaku event where circle participants sell their dojinshi (self-published magazines, manga or novels). There will be many cosplayers around the venue. Changing rooms are provided for the cosplayers inside the venue.

Wonder Festival

Wonder Festival is a model kit event where amateur and professional figure makers display and sell their works. Top skilled makers works will be exhibited in the “Wonder Showcase”.

Chara Hobby 2015 C3xHobby

Chara Hobby 2015 C3xHobby is one of the largest entertainment events held in Japan that bring together hobby and characters. Many entertainment companies will be displaying and selling their latest products while amateurs will be selling their copyrighted works in Chara Hobby Market. Also, there will be a stage where talk shows and music live shows will be performed, and “Kids Family Corner” for visitors coming with children.
