Tokyo Summer Sale Information 2018

After the rainy season, the humid Japanese summer begins. Just around the same time, summer sale starts in many department shops!

Some shops start summer sale from the end of June while some only starts from mid-July.

Here is the information of when the summer sale starts in major shopping centers and department stores in the central Tokyo.

Even during the sale, those temporary foreign visitors entitled for duty-free shopping are able to get the 8% consumption tax refunded.

Summary of tax-free rules
  • Items eligible for tax-free are separated in 2 categories; general and consumable.
  • You must spend minimum 5000JPY in total in the same category not including tax at the store on a single day.
  • General items and consumable items are calculated separately.
