Japan Officially Reopens Entry for Foreign Tourist Visitors on June 10

On the evening of May 26, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida officially announced that foreign tourists will be admitted to Japan on June 10, 2022. This is two years and two months after the announcement of the closure of Japan following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) outbreak in 2020, the country has reopened to foreign tourists.

As a first step, tourists from all over the world will be allowed to enter Japan as “guided tours”, and will be expanded in stages depending on the status of the outbreak.

In addition, from June 1, visitors from 98 countries or regions with low infection rates will no longer be tested for entry into Japan and will no longer be required to be isolated at home after entering the country.
