Sumo Themed Event “Hakkiyoi KITTE” at KITTE Shopping Mall (Aug.11-28)

Following its success last summer, a Sumo themed event “Hakkiyoi KITTE” will be held again this summer at the shopping mall KITTE located just in front of Tokyo Station, from August 11th to 28, 2016.

“Hakkiyoi KITTE” will be an event where visitors can learn and experience the culture of sumo, a Japanese style of wrestling and one of the traditional national sports.

During the event period, the real sumo ring will be set on the 1st floor of KITTE, and sumo related exhibitions and events will take place around the sumo ring.

On the very last day of the event, the 28th Sunday, a Tokyo regional tour “Grand Sumo Tournament at KITTE” will be held. Visitors will have a chance to see the real yokozuna sumo wrestlers (wrestlers of the highest rank) and their “entering the ring ceremony” and sumo matches between the top division sumo wrestlers.

KITTE will announce the detailed information of the event at the beginning of July.
