Try some fresh local food at the farmer’s market.
United Nations University is located on Aoyama Dori between Omotesando Station and Shibuya Station in Tokyo. At their weekly farmer’s market held on weekend, you will find over 40 stalls selling locally produced fresh vegetables, fruits, rice, flowers, wine, olive oil, muffins, and sometimes bonsai and more.
The greatest part of this market is that you can talk to the actual growers and producers of the food. Friendly farmers and sellers are easy to talk to and they are happy to give advise on how to cook and enjoy their product. You might be able to see some vegetables and mushrooms that you may not see in your own country. This is also a good place to stop by for snacks. There are food trucks and seats where you can sit and take a bite of the food.
Occasionally, the market has a theme by season or region. Also, weekly antique market is held as a part of the market on Saturdays.
