KAWAII MONSTER CAFE in Harajuku Opened on Aug. 1 !

Produced by Sebastian Masuda, an art director and the owner of a shop “6%DOKIDOKI” in Harajuku, a cafe KAWAII MONSTER CAFE has opened in Harajuku on August 1st, 2015. The theme of the cafe is “New Tokyo that no body has seen yet” (“mada daremo mitakotononai atarashii Tokyo“). With 193 seats, the cafe is the largest in space in Tokyo.

Once you enter the cafe from the mouth of its mascot Mr. Ten thousand chopsticks, its iconic merry-go-round, SWEETS GO ROUND will welcome you. The colorful cafe is divided into 4 unique sections with different themes; MUSHROOM DISCO has colorful mushrooms shaped box seats; MILK STAND has milk bottles and huge animal heads hung from the ceiling; BAR Experiment has a bar counter where unique cocktails are served; and Mel-Tea ROOM has ice cream, macaroons and chocolates on the walls and ceiling (of course not the real ones). Visitors can choose which section they would like to experience.

The food and drinks served are as colorful as the interior of the cafe. Masuda says he wanted the make the menu to be “tasty, fun, and photogenic”.

There are five MONSTER GIRLs who represent the concept of the cafe. They are DOLLY, BABY, CRAZY, CANDY, and NASTY. The girls were selected by Masuda in the audition. Their costumes are designed by a fashion blogger Misha Janette. MONSTER GIRLs will be promoting “Japanese Kawaii” to the world.

A small shop is located at the exit of the cafe. Original items featuring the mascot Mr. Ten thousand chopsticks and other colorful items such as iphone case, T shirts, pens, bags are on available.
